1. Diamonds are found way below than you can imagine- This is probably one thing about diamonds not many people know. These gems are found between 140 and 190 kilometers underground which could be the lithosphere layer. so now you know why they're so expensive to mine!
2. Volcanoes might bring up diamonds- Since diamonds are located so far below underground, sometimes when lava stars erupting, it may push these diamonds to the surface. Many of such diamonds are inside igneous rocks and can be found only once the volcano cools down. So beware don't go looking for them near volcanoes!
3. There could be diamonds in space- This is again one of the most interesting things about diamonds that several people do not know about. Several scientists have revealed that there are white dwarf stars in apace that each contains a diamond core . intriguing, isn't it? And there's also Carbonado diamonds, which is found only in certain countries and believed to be deposited by asteroids ! These however cannot be used in making jewelry.
4. Graphite and diamonds are more similar than you think! - You may find this hard to believe but graphite, which is there in your pencil, shares a unique similar composition with diamonds. Both are in fact made of 100% carbon! The only difference is that the crystals are arranged in different ways. Unbelievable right?

Diamonds aren't always colourless - yes , there are several different colours in which diamonds are available such as red, blue, yellow, pink, black, green, orange etc. The colour of the diamond varies because it matters how much impurities or imperfections the particular stone has.
